Hi, I was asked for a report of the factory visit.
I thought I would post it here It is verbatim 1/. Will they ever be able to supply with Phone Book Downloads NO DOWNLOAD FUNCTION 2/. Are they producing with Black AND Silver Faceplates? BLACK ONLY 3/. Can we get a Copy of the Firmware bin File? CAN NOT 4/. Will they be providing any patches or upgrades to the firmware and menus? CAN CHANGE LOGO BY CUSTOMERS THEMSELVES, NO UPDRADES TO FIRMWARE AND MENUS. 5/. Will the units with RDS be able to read TMC via the FM radio and will there be a charge for the TMC? PER ENGINEER, IF SYSTEM WITHOUT RDS CAN RUN TMC, THEN SYSTEM WITH RDS CAN RUN TOO, THEY JUST ADD A RDS CHIP, NOTHING ELSE HAS CHANGED. FACTORY DO NOT GUARANTEE AS THEY SAID THEIR SYSTEM WITHOUT TMC WHEN DESIGNING, THEY FEEL STRANGE AND CONFUSE. 6/. Is there any way to improve radio reception? NO. THEY WANT KNOW IF WE HAVE PROBLEM WITH THEIR RADIO. 7/. Can we get Built in DVB-T ? How Much? How Many Units need to be ordered? 50 UNITS. DVB to 30 km/hr 8/. Is the Current TMC Functioning Via the ROYALTEK RM6000 On the GPS Side of the Head Unit? FACTORY NOT SURE. BY THE WAY, I CHECKED AND DID NOT FIND THE ROYALTEK CHIP ON THE SATGPS MODULE. 9/.Is it possible to supply with EXTERNAL Bluetooth Microphones YES. EXTERNAL MICCROPHONE IS STANDARD CONFIGURATION. (Note from Me , I am going to make sure that this is not a language misunderstanding) 10/. And Of Course projected Delivery date of the Units WITH / WITHOUT RDS? WITHOUT RDS - FACTORY CONFIRMED THE DATE IS NEXT MONDAY – 03/22. BUT WE MAY NEED ANOTHER DAY TO HANDLE THE SHIPPING. WITH RDS – FACTORY NOT CONFIRMED EXACT DATE BUT ONE MONTH IS OUR LAST ANSWER. TWO PHOTOS OF FACTORY I TOOK WHEN I VISIT . |

According to DAVID LAWRENCE it Is Working on the GPS Side. When the time does come I think that we had best hold back Final payment from you and shipping of yours until we can confirm working TMC What are your thoughts ? RG |

With IGO8, the TMC works with my unit. Cathy supplied it after a long wait, so I really dont understand why the factory is confused about it unless Cathy uses a different factory. It is on the GPS side, but detects the TMC channel through radio stations, and the "Stations" menu on IGO8 shows you which station it is locked on to. From here it picks up TMC signals from Classic FM, Heart, and today I also found it on Rock FM. During the auto detect process, the display shows "Royaltec" hardware detected. I have previously posted pictures of the TMC messages of live traffic information. I can also confirm that when passing through areas of road works on the M62 last week, "Roadwork" signs appeared on the map on the motorway. Also IGO8 made an announcement "Traffic jam ahead" and recalculated a route around it. Beyond these things I don't know what more I can do to convince you that TMC is acheivable. What I can't do is guarantee that all the suppliers are actually able to provide it. I can only speak for the one I used which was Cathy at Hualingan. |

TMC support, speed-camera support All of the European free TMC sources are integrated. When TMC information is available, it is possible to view the TMC events either on the map as icons or as a list on a dedicated traffic information listing. Your PDA device should have an integrated TMC reciever or external TMC aerial connected. http://navngo.com/pages/global/eng/igo_8_features#5 |
