Default Black fade to grey...

HI, my mirror surrounds have become very grey and mottled as have other black trim. I had some Simoniz black trim and bumper polish restorer and tried that. No effect, they still look tired and weather worn.
Can anyone recommend a good product or remedy that actually works in restoring black bits back to black please?

I was recommended by a fellow member to try Auto Glym black trim restorer ( I've been using it today and for the life of me cant remember the exact name of it ) ...It's very good though and seems to go a long way. Make sure you give the bottle a good shake otherwise it comes out like toothpaste :-) :-) :-)

I would recommend GTECHNIQ C4, expensive but you don't need much and it will stay black for at least 2 years not 2 weeks like most other products.

Thanks for all the replies. I had considered Autoglym as I have tried their Shampoo/Polish/Wax to great effect and do seem genuinely pretty good stuff. The car is now 14 years old and had a fairly hard time with the previous 2 owners especially the last who lived near the coast.

a dab of olive oil on a clean cloth and wipe them round... last a couple of months and costs pennies...
same with bumper and trim parts, especially window trims etc. as the oil will not denature the rubber as some chemical based products can...

A friend suggested that Peanut Butter brings up faded black plastic a treat. Didn't specify smooth or crunchy though
