Alloy Wheel Bolts
I think I read somewhere that these are not a good idea to fit for any length of time as they bind to the alloys or the the hub (or both? - its a senior thing )
Can somebody confirm or advise please...... Description of what I'm looking at is (Link removed as requested by seller) Any comments please.......

Rover Bolts/'Alloy' Bolts
I have bought O/E bolts from Xpart (some time ago now) and are 'shiney' when purchased. BUT as we all know, they go rusty fairly quickly.
I have also purchased the 'alloy' bolts frequently seen on ebay. Firstly, though also shiney (think it maybe a nickel plating) I don't think they are alloy and, secondly they also go rusty. In fact a new one I had on my desk for ages 'developed' surface rust in my office. I looked into chromed bolts and got a quote for chroming. Think it was £4 PER BOLT for chroming and £3 for de-brittling. Learned that you cannot just chrome a bolt, it has to be de-brittled, so beware if purchasing chromed bolts. Could be disastrous when/after torquing up to 90ft.lbs. I eventually settled on O/E bolts cleaned on the grinder brush, copper greased heads and chromed plastic caps. They last very well & I know they are safe !

There is a tendency for any bolts to corrode to alloy wheels. This is an electrolytic process that can be virtually eliminated by smearing the bolt threads and cone with Waxoyl or the like. All it needs is a trace and you'll not have any problems. People who complain about seized-in bolts are those who never do much servicing. No DIY mechanic would allow it to happen. It's a facelift model. |

hI DRAGRAG if you follow through the link you can also get plastic ones. They are the type I have used being a skinflint. If i can get the email address I will post it I think they were about £15 look great and easy to keep clean.Remember 17mm the first set listed as 75/ZT were 19mm I still have them NBG. I have now used three sets of studs and they have all discoloured so plastic caps for me. best wishes woolleysox BAJ £14.49 post paid. well worth alook.
