Made a start on the project 1.8 today, replaced a broken rear window, removed the broken Crank sensor then removed the fuel pump and filter and drained the tank, the old fuel had been in there for 9 years and had eaten the insulation from the wiring!

Default Well done

Hi Andy, is this the same car you had in Norfolk? Anyway today after 4 years I finally had a go at refurbishing my original walnut steering wheel with the dye kit from ebay. Have to say very impressed with it and it looks like new again.

So now I have 2, the one I got off Jake's dark fantasy in black and walnut and the original walnut and sandstone.

No, ots a 1.8 I got from a member on here Jenny, it's been stood a while and will need a light recommisioning before it's back on the road, it's worth doing as it's stupidly low miles, and totally rust free.

Touched up a few marks, sorted the connection for the new aerial to the DAB radio then discovered one of the reverse sensors has had enough so ordered a new one from dmgrs, just got to order paint for that when it comes now

Today was fit some 1 series washer jets, after cleaning them out as they were slightly blocked. Also seeing as over a year ago I got one of the filter grommets from dmgrs for the washer bottle I decided to fit that too. Got it out by peeling back arch liner, came out nice and easy and caught all the fluid and foosty rubbish in a basin. Took off the old grommet which was pretty gunked up and popped in the new one, bigg difference and now a good fan of spray.
Also gave a quick polish up and fitted the PPD reflectors that arrived today from Matt (Cable tie).
Getting all these wee things tied up in time for heading 588 miles down to Strete in Devon on Sunday for the family holiday, looking forward to the drive, will see how the 3 kids and the other half get on but they have been well warned about how long we will be on the road for lol

Cool

Put a decent set of MG mats in Banana. The yellows ones were not very good and stained easily. Got a new set of bumper bolts with orange washers to put on tomorrow.
Gave her a nice wash today with Meguiars soft gel shampoo.

Well we did get a lot of cloud & only caught the merest glimpse of the sun but the darkness rushing towards us over the landscape turning on the streetlamps as it approached was very impressive.

We had our Portafold caravan behind the Rover which elicited a lot of praise too.
