Default bonnet release cable

Something has happened that I hoped would never happen. The ZTT I bought in 2018 as a future project after I had a stroke was due another battery charge. It has been started every few weeks but not moved on the drive for 16 months.
I pulled the release and knew straight away that something had happened as the bonnet failed to pop up.
My wife fully depressed the bonnet to take pressure off whilst I tried again but no luck. The problem is compounded by it being a 2.5 SE manual in Poseidon in reasonable condition and rarish.
Is this terminal or is there some way of retrieving the situation?
Thank you in advance.
Adrian.

Far from terminal. Ask a moderator to send you the solution.
