Correct, it must be one or the other taxed or sorned.

Fix a poor handbrake; DIY ABS diagnostic unit; Loan of the spanner needed to change the CDT belts; free OBD diagnostics +MAF; Correct Bosch MAF cheap; DVB-T install in an ex-hi-line system; DD install with a HK amp; FBH servicing.

I've taken a vow of poverty. To annoy me, send money.

And not be parked on a public road. Telly prog the other day, DVLA van fitted with ANPR cruising around, clamped a SORN car parked at the roadside.

David

It either has to be taxed or Sorn'd. If you do not have insurance then it should not be on the road

I believe a car must have insurance if it is taxed. Conversly, if it is not insured, it must be SORN'd.

https://www.gov.uk/sorn-statutory-off-road-notification second bullet refers.

It only needs insurance if it is on the road, but you cannot tax it without both insurance and an MOT (if needed).

If any of these are absent, it is illegal for it to be used or parked on the public road. You can legally drive to and from a pre-booked MOT, without tax or MOT, providing it is insured.

In needs neither tax, insurance nor an MOT if it is sorned, but cannot be then used on the public road or parked on the public road..

tax runs out in December but insurance runs out in November and mot October.
vehicle not on public road.
where are you then?
you can have insurance but no tax or mot but I suspect you must disclose this to insurance company. oh and yes you can use your vehicle on a public road... to and from an mot if pre booked and does not fail on dangerous
