Had same problem when we moved in 1978, newly married and neighbour helpfully suggested that we moved our bed onto another wall! Next house we made sure that there were solid walls.
You could try sound deadening quilt and batten out the walls, then plasterboard and skim, would only lose a couple of inches but messy and costly. |
