Everything you'll need can be found at http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1531 including rooting guides and custom ROM's. There appear to be a few Android 4.3 ROM's out for your phone which look OK. Just be warned though, do things wrong and you may end up turning your HTC One S into an expensive paperweight! Some phone's are practically 'un-brickable' and fairly safe to root however others can be permanently broken by applying the wrong ROM in the wrong way!

Ah ok thanks mate!
I think I will leave it as I'm not very clued up on these things.
Do I stand to gain much by doing it?
I was really wanting to get rid of the 02 bloatware.
Also don't like Google + that's on it... Probably because I don't understand it!

Yep, you would end up with a bloatware free phone running the latest version of Android. In my experience custom ROM's are usually a lot faster then the network modified stock ROM's.
I haven't root'd a One S however I have done a Desire S and the new One and both were pretty straight forward, HTC even provide a dedicated page and procedure for unlocking your phone so compared to some it's actually pretty easy. As long as you follow the guides to the letter you will be OK, and also read through each guide completely before even touching the phone, that way you'll know what to expect and what to have to hand.

Of course if you want a slick Android experience with a truly awesome phone you could just send yours off to the land of ebay and replace it with one of these https://play.google.com/store/device...d=nexus_4_16gb

Ok thanks, I will look into rooting. I am very happy with my phone to be honest but have read good reviews about the nexus.
Could any phone shop perform the root?
If so how much could I expect to pay?
Cheers

That's a good question, I've no idea if phone shop's offer rooting as a service?

The Nexus is an awesome phone and gets all the latest updates without the need to root. I sold my Galaxy S3 and bought the Nexus and haven't looked back, in fact it's so good it's the first Android phone that I haven't root'd and installed a custom ROM on!

Nice thing about having the Nexus 4 is at least I know I'll get it within a few days of it being launched.
4.3 did something.... Kill my galaxy note

So much so I sold it because it ran so slow after the update. It was a really good phone until I updated it

Was that a standard Samsung update or a cooked ROM from XDA?

Ah, stock Samsung ROM! Surprised it slowed the device down, did you try a factory reset after installing it, that can sometimes cure the problem.

Yes and nothing. It was late coming out for the note because they where having problems with it, I just think they rushed it and it didn't agree with it. I remember someone else on here having trouble with it too.
