Fuel pump
My project car is having none of it regarding starting.
Checking the filter and swapping the relay was fruitless. Power was getting to the pump so the only thing to do is remove it, this is what I found. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Last edited by Ched; 7th July 2020 at 17:00.. |

This reminds me very much of a refurbished building that was mine the main sports halls lights were 11.4 meters above the ground. The lamps were 400watt discharge mounted in a ceramic bulb holder with the holder mounted on an alloy round can, approx half meter diameter that fitted over an abs diffuser. The control gear was remote mounted in a metal box approx 500x200x250mm. The sports hall was signed over to me in the July by the September the lights were failing one after another. There were a total of nine rows of six lamps over a 35mx35m floor.
During the Christmas’s closure we scaffolded up to the lights on a PAS tower to discover that the ballasts had failed, and the cables within the control boxes looked just like your pictures. We put the wire deg down to the heat within the box. We fitted new 400watt ballasts and replaced the incoming cable from the Dongal to the control box with 2.5mm 3 core butal as the cables came out the outer we covered each wire in ceramic heat shield. The feeds to the bulb holder were done in hotspot wire with an additional ceramic shield over that. Over the four day closure we replaced 45 of the 54 units. We would have done them all but could not source the required number of ballasts on Boxing Day. We put the bulb feeds down to the high levels of light and heat and the supply cables down to heat. In a car I have only ever seen this on a tow bar 13 core when the link cable had been dragging on the ground and shorted through the wiring, both on the link cable, and the wiring in the car the Earth wires were in the worst condition. Something has caused the insulation to break down, has there been a leak into the area? Has the car been run on ethanol? Alan Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |

The 'Jubilee' clip indicates someone's been in there before.

How have you got on with the pump Dave? Looks like it’s a bit sick connection wise.

I doubt its been run on that Alan, my guess is the pump has seized, when I get the replacement I'll take a look and post up.
TC, I've looked at some pumps on ebay and they all have that jubilee clip fitted. Dave, I'm off over to Mick in Kent tomorrow to get a replacement carpet for the blue one and a pump from him so Sunday or Monday I'll be swapping that out. |

You're probably right Andy, I found a load of kitchen towel behind the carpet as tho to soak up a spillage.
I'm getting another pump form mickboy tomorrow but it has a white top opposed to a black one, are they compatible or are they supposed to be like for like? |

Yes, the pumps will be interchangeable, thinking about the wiring, its probably deteriorated over the years due to standing and condensation.
