Central locking rear left door lock inoperative
On attempting to lock the car yesterday I noted that the left rear door plunger did not operate as the remainder did, leaving the rear left door unlocked.
On a retry I could hear the mechanism attempting to operate but plunger remained firmly UP! I attempted to help it on its way ,which had the action of sending the plunger right down level with trim and all attempts of attempting to access the plunger have failed. Is there a simple way of accessing the mechanism and if necessary replacing it? As of today with all the restrictions I have Sorned the car(sad),so will hopefully have ample time to work on the problem. Thanks in advance, and to all members do take care in this trying time.

Sounds like you've got a lazy actuator, which isn't uncommon on these cars. They're cheap enough to come by second hand and reasonably easy to replace. I think there might be a "How-To" on here somewhere. The difficult bit is making sure the door card goes back on properly.

Hi Steve Good to hear from you again...….excellent links, but first major problem I encountered was ,on attempting to prize out electric switch unit the chrome top came off the rest disappeared inside the door, so "maybe" the problem is just the electric switch???
Is there any simple way of fishing it from behind the door without actually taking off the whole card? All the best and take care Derek

https://rimmerbros.com/Item--i-GRID001671 or operating the key in the lock? The door handle chrome trim can often come off when removing. Item 25 https://rimmerbros.com/Item--i-GRID001786 This needs the blanking plug and screw off before it comes out. (Items 26 and 28) Rear doors https://rimmerbros.com/Item--i-GRID001787 are similar.

This is the part that has broken into two parts with the inner section disappearing inside the door.(I attach photos) My question is as this unit is broken into 2 pieces, if I replace it will it give me back the door locking mechanism and if so is there an easy way I can gain access to it without removing the whole door card?
