There is some great advice including pics on page 19 of the technical forum posted by CMOORESY. I was able to follow it and successfully open the bonnet. Just have to work out how to fit the new cables now! Thanks to everyone who replied 🙏

Default Slam Panel Removal

Hi Mick.
Remove the front bumper, then the slam panel with the lights attached, turn the slam panel up side down and remove the cables, fix the new ones as you go doing the above will help route the cables in the right place, also you will be able to inspect other items while you have the bumper & slam panel off, ie the intercooler O-rings, tie back any hose that can and do chaff, check the wiring is not rubbing/chaffing on the OS chassis arm.

It's only lack of oil that gets these things in that state.

Couple of drops a year will stop that ever happening again.--
