Default ABS Message

Hi I have had an ABS random fault message for the last couple of years. This is the original thread http://www.the75andztclub.co.uk/foru...ight=abs+light

Its now got worse but has given more of a clue. It only seemed to do it in the wet. Well I finally got a clue why. Never saw the connection before but now its worse I can. Now for every 3 times the wipers do a sweep 2 of them brings on the ABS light and fault message. Its not exactly 2 out of 3 it can vary. So is the activation of the wiper motor causing a K-bus fault?

The only connection I can see between the ABS and wipers is the K-bus. Could the wiper motor be generating back emf or a spike or is it a problem with the BCM? Anybody got any ideas?

Regards John

If I fitted a second hand BCU temporarily. Would it work to prove if this was the fault or not. I know the C/L would not work but trying to eliminate things.

K-bus sounds like a probably cause, Check the earths at the bottom of the A pillar

Failing that a T4 session is probably the best way to go.

Checked earths with digital multimeter very low resistance. Checked fault codes again LSM showing "Brake Light Switch Short to Ground" fault count 2. I don't know if this is the footbrake switch or handbrake.

It's probably the foot brake switch.

Pull the LSM out and check for damage

Any water anywhere? This tends to upset a lot of things on the canbus line.

Can't see any water but who knows what goes on in the hidden places. No obvious damage to LSM or switch. I have fitted a new foot brake switch just in case. What a job!!
