Default ABS light on

Hi guys. I've just slid my way up an icey, snowy, slushy road - wheels were spinning away but i was half way up and didn't fancy reversing so kept going. At some point the ABS light came on - any immediate thoughts?

Hoping it's just the wheels confused the sensors whilst spinning at different speeds?

Had same problem earlier in the week. ABS light lit up and stayed on. Started car later, ABS light on. Reversed out of parking area and it went off. Stayed off since so don't know what caused it!

Ice could be the culprit here if compacted around the sensors.
Try disconnecting the battery for about a hour or so to allow the system to clear and reboot.

I think that once the ABS warning has been activated , it needs another ignition on/off cycle and a few turns of the wheels with all ok before it goes out . This might explain what you have seen ?

ABS light came on again Wed morning, all the way to work, then went off next time I started Rover. Back on again tonight, obviously got a problem. Booked into garage on Wednesday.

Had exactly the same, wheel spinning up a slight hill last Friday. Stayed on the rest of the way home. Hasn't come back on since. As you say Billy, think it just threw a wobbly at the wheels doing different speeds

Nearside front wheel bearing has slight play, ABS faults showing on this wheel. Garage ordered new wheel bearing and sensor, will be fitted a week on Monday, and MOT at same time.

They are working flat out and this is the earliest they can do the job, mechanic says he was in at 4.30 this morning, trying to catch up with work.
