Default CV joint pre-filled

Quick question, not sure if asked before, but likely I am losing my marbles so thats ok.

Ive some old stock genuine CV boot kits, and some old stock new CV joints. These are prefilled inside with a very thick jelly like molybdenum grease (right flush with the inside of the splined hole), as well as the CV boot kits coming with three sachets of what seems like lighter molybdenum.

Are the three sachets of grease in the CV boot kit meant as total fill for the whole joint?
I cannot see a RAVE figure anywhere for the correct qty of CV grease.

I would think that the cv joints have enough grease in them. The sachets are for when you put the boot on. Don’t think they would give you any extra.

You are most certainly in the lost marbles department Ross, the 15th of August was the last time you queried the same

I may be old (in your opinion), but I can certainly remember you asking the very same question........the only question remaining are you waiting for your father to assist while you change the CV joints?, sometime it helps to have the old man to advise you when you are working on your car.

I certainly enjoy helping my dad to work on his 75, and have him help me out from time to time.

The CV boot kits are for when you replace a split boot and the original grease has escaped.--

Does the original grease ever need replacing (i.e. empty & re-pack the boot at intervals)?

(I haven't looked it up in Rave ).

Not like the olden days then - grease everything (with a gun) every five minutes.

Brings back memories of the Triumph GT6, needed 2 grease guns - 1 filled with grease for the front and rear suspension joints and 1 filled with hypoid SAE 90 gearbox oil for the front trunnions.

Yep, with two Morris Minor Travellers and a MGB GT, but at least it's grease only and it's about three times a year for each as they don't do so many miles these days.
