Have just arrived home from attending Peter's Funeral.I agree entirely with Planenut's comments above. Shared grief easier than alone.

My personal thanks to Shiner and Yellow Banana for looking after me as I am not in the best of health at the moment and the other 75 Club Members with whome I was able to speak.

Sheila and The Girls, thanks for sharing the big lad with us.
Myself and Nora followed proceedings via the live link so thoughtfully provided by Katie. I'm not too proud to admit, I shed a few tears watching, as did Nora. A lovely send of for a lovely man.

You wasn’t the only ones Cliff. But a good send off for a very good friend.

The funeral went off very well today and with most of Peters friends from the club, in attendance, it felt like a meet which Peter would have had a few good words to say. Thank you very much Shiela and the family for organising everything.

There must have been 200 plus mourners at the funeral and reception after. People came from far and wide, some were colourfully dressed, some were in smart attire to remember and celebrate Peters life. For now I will close.

A very moving service indeed the amount of people who attended went to show what a well-respected and loving husband and father he was, it was our privilege to have known Peter, he always had a kind word for everyone who knew him.
We wish to thank his family for allowing us to attend his funeral.

God bless you Peter you are one in a million.

Rev Jules.

As others have said, a very nice service and thanks to the family for allowing us to share their "thanks for Peter's life".

I first met him at the last Clandon meeting, in 2019.
Peter immediately offered me, a stranger who was simply introducing himself, a can of beer: it was Old Hookey. (how did he know to have one of my favourite brews, in the back of his car?)

If I might be so bold, might a memorial breakfast be organised at Frimley, Denham or Maidenhead; for this time next year, to which his family could be invited, on the regulars collectively.

Regards

Mike

That's a really nice idea Mike. I'm sure a lot of us feel that it would be good way to say thanks for all Peter did with making us all feel so welcome.

Hi Mike, it was great to meet you the other day.

The nearest venue for the family would be The Lido Ruislip Carvery where Peter used to hold meets until the Lido introduced parking charges and I remember Peter telling me how Sheila and himself used to walk around the lake at The Lido. https://www.stonehouserestaurants.co...sedgeruislip#/

Other venues look very promising, thank you very much for suggesting them in paying tribute to Peter.

I will run it by Planenut Fred who took over the meets from Peter.

Absolutely, in fact I had already done so (by PM to Fred) between your posts 68 & 69.
