Default 1.8t coolant hose

Car dumped the majority of its coolant last night,as the big hose on the top t piece popped off😮lucky enough i pulled off the garage and noticed a cloud of steam behind in the mirror so went straight back home which was only a few houses down really and popped it back on.just need more coolant now.hoping theres no damage done.😕

Which end ? (Engine/T-piece) What was the reason for the Hose to pop off, Was a Clip not secured ? is it an OEM hose ? I like details

i'd be concerned it would happen again without knowing why it failed

when mine did the same I thought it had just popped the hose off but the last half inch of the "T" had broken off inside the hose. it was a clean break and I only realised when a few miles further on it popped again. if you run your finger around the inside of the hose you will feel the remains of the plastic if this is what has broken. I replaced it with a Gerry stainless "T"..

The plastic T-piece is known to distort when Jubilees are over-used and I'd suggest you get rid of it. This first coolant loss event won't be the last unless you swap it out for something like this: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/323218850...m=323218850876

It's been a regular discussion topic over the years and originally encouraged development of the Gerry-T in stainless steel. Those are NLA so other people have stepped in with alternatives. And they're more expensive every time.
