Default Ews

Hello ,
is it possible to recode a second hand EWS 3 from Rover 75 to be able to rewrite the real serial number following an engine ECM problem?
Thank you for your reply

Yes you can, however if you have fitted a second hand ECM as part of an "ECU set" it is far easier to remove the 5P08 serial EEP from the original ECM and fit that to the replacement, and in this way the original EWS and keys are retained

In that case yes, you will also need new key transponders as the VIN is stored in those also.

Basically the EWS is read and the binary dump then modified to reflect the correct VIN, both keys marked as unused, then programme two replacement transponders.

The DDE4 needs to be wiped of previously configured data, then reprogrammed with the correct VIN, tune assembly and ZCS coding.

It's not really a DIY job though, but it can be done

Well two ways really, if you can't be without your car, you could read the ZCS coding from something other than the fitted EWS with TOAF or similar, let me know the full VIN and I can programme a complete ECU set without mismatches.

You fit the advance replacements and send me the ones currently fitted to the car as a worn core return.

On the other hand, I can utilise what is fitted currently to the car, and reprogramme it for you, this of course means you are without the use of your car in the meantime.

Just a thought Andre, have you attempted to recode the car using T4?, I hope not as the last thing you need is to have no record of the original ZCS coding.

T4 will not overwrite a previously recorded VIN in the DDE4, it would need to be a virgin unit.

What ECM type is currently fitted to the car? NNN100692 NNN100720, or NNN500340?
