Default The recommissioning begins

The first stage of getting this car back on the road has now begun, a new key was ordered from Rimmers today, however, with xpart being closed due to the virus, it's a waiting game as to when the key will actually arrive.

It is just over 9 years since the cars last mot ran out, it's been stood longer than that as it had broken down and was left in an underground car park until I acquired it at the end of September 2017.

It has been washed and polished in my ownership and covered up and thats pretty much it.
Life and too many things going on had meant the car would just have to wait its turn.
Thankfully that time is now and I'm quite excited to getting started on this one.

We all know that situation of other things taking priority over what we really want to get on with! Great news you can pick things up where you had to leave them. I'm guessing that the tyres may have flats in them after this amount of time. Wondering whether other members on the forum would replace the tyres after all that time when shes 'ready to roll or run them to see how they behave? All the best for your project going forwards. Looking forward to some pics when you can manage them.

Well good luck with yours, I'm in the same boat as I've finally made a start on mine after having it sit on the drive for four years. It's going to be slow going though as my wife is a key worker and I'm in charge of the kids. I hope to try and keep a steady flow as fortunately I've already gathered most of what I need. Just waiting for a couple of tools to turn up so I can carry on.

Mmmmmm, new rattle gun!

It's in very good condition Ian from what I recall, being stored in an environment where the air was circulating has done it no harm.

The tyres quite surprisingly have hardly gone down in the 2 years since I pumped them up, more than can be said for the sidewalls tho, they will be replaced as like youve said, all they will be used for is to roll the car, pics to follow.

What the Michelin tyre looks like.

A closer look at the rear caliper and disc.

A quick view underneath.

And I think the exhaust has seen better days.

Hi Dave. With the exhaust in that condition, do you think it will get a stainless front to back? If you ever do think you will get one,MIJ Exhaust in Walsall near me it has a good reputation I believe. Still working on the silver one, but not in any hurry at the moment. Just enjoying the weather.
