Just ran through this procedure with a satnav that hasn't worked for three years. Found loads of corrosion just like this, and treated it with the TIM fluid. Everything cleaned up and when plugged back in everything works as it originally did. Brilliant piece of advice and well documented. Thanks a million.

Yes it does work!
Just made my mind up to join this excellent forum after a number of years "watching".
I've had the dripping water in my R75 Tourer onto the hi line sat nav box. Triangle symbol rotates / unit doesn't shut down leading to flat battery. I followed this fix - taking the unit apart appears daunting but is actually quite easy if you have the right tools and little pots to put the screws in. Didn't have the proper fluid but used meths VERY sparingly on old toothbrush. Carefully dried the PCB's. All now works well. I've done it twice now - on a friends who had the same problem, and perfect result. I'm now trying to stop the leak! Favorite answer so far is welds by tailgate hinges on another thread. Hope this helps |
