Hate to be a party pooper but most of the little touches are pure BMW. I went from a Rover 800 to a 75 and was overwhelmed with how much better the 75 was and the huge attention to details and confess I then realised why people go on about BMWs. The 800 was OK but the over riding impression was that the only member of the design team with any real impact was the ****** Cost Accountant.

If you like this little things the you should see the latest 3 series. The "his and hers" keys automatically adjusts the seats, wing mirrors, aircon settings, radio favourite stations and a whole lot more. You can plan your journey on your iPad or PC and transmit it direct to the car's sat nav, you can use you iphone to find where you have parked the car and so it goes on .....you also get reasonable performance. The 328i will out accelerate a 75 V8 and return 40 mpg on a long journey and unlike the Rover, the engine is made in England and only cost £170 in road tax.

I worked in Honda Swindon for 13 yrs, I ran among others the fit and finish team at the end of line, they also set the doors this way.
Sorry, this was meant to have post64 quote in! :-)

Yes but we are talking about cars that are now ten years old, many newer vehicles do similar techy stuff to that which you mentioned; what would the latest 75 do if there was one?

Here is a extract from a early 75 publication.

Did you know there is a spoiler fitted to every saloon.

Hi, that's really interesting to know - we always hear about the BMW influence on our cars - so your personal knowledge of this aspect perhaps illustrates the Honda heritage too . Many thanks.

All the best, Nicholas/Zircon

The thing is alot of manufacturers have been doing things ie on my rover 800 you had lazy lock which closes all the windows etc at the touch of a button, see you home lights again on a rover 800 and this was before BMW got their hands on Rover.

You see yes BMW had an investment in Rover but to say that the car wouldnt have had this stuff on it is untrue as alot of the stuff the Rover has and also any other cars have is tried and tested and used by countless different manufacturers.

I love the 75 and i think its great it has all this stuff on and its a true technical showcase but it just annoys me when people deride it

Only one I know of is pressing the auto/off buttons together to get rid of annoying beeps. Hope there is more!
