testing IPK

Since my car has been very inactive, I have noticed that the message display on the dash is getting worse with lots of lines, more than when the car was being used daily early in the year. I do have the instrument pack out of the scrapper (mk2) I had earlier but was never able to get any power to it as the key wasnt present. Is it possible to test the spare one on the workbench? just need to find out if the display is any better thsn mine and I dont really want to pull apart my dash of the tourer to test the other IPK if I can help it. Thanks in advance for any advice.

It’s only three posi screws to remove the ipk, takes five mins!

Thanks, thought there was more to it!! but could I briefly replace my current IPK in the tourer with the spare one just to test the display/lights etc? Would it cause any issues being off another car??

no problems that I am aware of swopping over to test, I've done it a couple of times.
You may be lucky and have a good one but if not have a word with rick-sta about a new display

To power the IPK up on the bench connect +12V to pins 6 and 8, and negative to pin 9 all on the white socket.
