At least twice a year, especially late September i put the dehumidifier i have (big one) on the back set on a board and leave it on for 6-7 hours, mains lead through the back window and taped up.

You would be surprised how much it always brings out, we get into cars all year with wet shoes and coats and just let it soak into the carpets and seats.

It makes a differerence, i noticed it smells way better, it heats up quicker and there is less (not gone altogether, seems to be a 75/zt trait) window fog.
