Default MoT today

Hi all.

I've put just shy of 12K on her in my first year with her.

The previous 12K took about 9 years .

The MoT result is a........

Fail for:

Corrosion on the Rear Offside Inner Sill

And an advisory for:

Offside Front anti roll bar linkage dust cover. Wondering about just fitting a new cover - if they're still available? Any thoughts?

Clean bill of heath otherwise including emissions at 0.54.

Booked in to have the welding done on Friday at our local, family run garage.

All in all nothing drastic for an almost 19 year old lady.

If the balljoint is ok, I would just replace the rubber boot. I have done this for track rod ends in the past on an car and the rods lasted a number of years afterwards.

This is the place I get by rubber boots.

Hit the same myself pre MOT.

Both rear sills shot to bits and when cut out both jacking points rusted to bits.

Off the road now whilst major welding and jacking point prefabrication takes place, big bill and the age old.... 'is it worth it or put the money towards a newer car'....scenario in the head debate.

One minor disappointment which is very much a side issue in the general scheme of things is the two front suspension arm gaiters are split which were only renewed two years ago.

Like many people I'm absolutely fed up of cheap quality crappy replacement parts, someone should do something about the legality and sale of shoddy poor material parts on cars and regulate both quality of metal and other material parts standards.
