Don't talk about kickstart pawls! I used to have to keep a few spare, the Commando had an appetite for them.
The one thing I couldn't get my head around was the positive earth. |

Of all the bikes I've had the one I wish I'd kept was a Honda CB550K3. Got it dirt cheap off a painter and decorator neighbour, he'd taken it in part payment for a job, real Arthur Daley type The reason for the bargain price was an electrical problem, turned out to be a simple fix, rebuilt the engine to sort an oil leak (broken crankcase bolt), new camchain etc, ran like a sewing machine. It had the original 4 into 4 exhausts, that's what drew me to it.

Ignition / charging issues, apart from that they were bulletproof and did munch the miles.

From memory early ones also suffered from pushrod wear issues as they were at an angle - sort of twisted. But many covered 35k+ miles.
