Back to the fold
Hi All
I've just rejoined! 2 years ago after a horrendous year with my facelift Connie cdti, I deserted and defected to a Jag s-type. Apart from fairly regular limp mode episodes, it was a dream to drive. Shame about the rot! Couldn't find a reasonably priced replacement so got a 2.2 diesel x-type. Perpetual fault codes, constant limp mode with engine and gearbox faults and then the scourge of rot reared its ugly head. Now back to a 2004 Connie and it's like putting on a favourite pair of shoes. Just got to sort out bodged radio installation and get the reversing aid sounder working. It's just under 112,000 miles as and to a colour I hadn't come across, a metallic red with an orangey tint. I didn't fully appreciate this club until I suffered a lack of knowledge and interest with several Jaguar owners clubs. It's good to be back. |

Welcome back. I tried three Jaguar S type’s, and two 75’s. Like you, I like the look of the Jag, but the 75 was the better car. I now have two 75’s. Diesel and the 2.5 V6 Connie SE.Both have got no body rot, so I obviously made like you have now, the right decision. Best of luck.

Out of interest what is the scale of body rot/tin worm on the Jags ? Seem to hear it again and again as i always consider them as an alternative to a 75/ZT

We had a look at a couple of Jag's before ending up with the Passat and, of course, then coming back to the fold.
Rust was bubbling up through the paint in many places. The "Ooh it's a Jag....." thing seems to lack substance the more you hear about them. Shame 'cus I do like them and I know a fair few on here have had/got one. |

I have and have owned a number of X Types - the newest (2009) had it's sills replaced before I bought it in May, the others are in fine fettle according to my MOT man, but ALL of my 75s/ZTs are good underneath and on top! The X Types do have some advantages however - 4 wheel drive on the 2.5 and 3.0 litres, and 60mpg on the diesel versions. I like them both,
