Default Clunk over potholes

Hey,
My zt has started to make a very slight clunking over potholes that i never really noticed before. Also the steering feels a bit vague and twitchy over certain surfaces. What could this be? The drop links have been done. Also passed mot and tester said it all felt solid back in Feb.
Is this just a trait of the zt having firm suspension etc?
Cheers
Phill

Could be worth checking drop links again, mine were done a couple of months ago, after being changed in march last year. They were OEM ones from dmgrs too, but to be fair to mat he sent out a replacement set under warranty.
Mine is still a bit clunky over potholes though, although not as bad as it was before they were changed.

Hi, hope it isn't what my mg zt failed its MOT on recently - a broken rear spring (as well as rotted lower mounting) - which came to a fairly hefty sum in the end..... but I imagine pot holes make everything travel more violently, so check springs, shock absorbers etc.
But I now note with the MG zt fixed that it steers a lot better and 'feels' right....

The top of the suspension bearing when worn can cause a CLUNK over pot holes.

jack it up and give your wheel a wiggle left and right if you hear a clunk could be tie rod inners or outers and wiggle top to bottom if it moves/clunks could be where the wishbone meets the hub sometimes just needs tightening up as these are murder for that also if your wheel moves left and right it could be the rubber bush the wishbone arm fits into as for roll bar linkages these can be felt by hand as iv replaced all these items in the last year lol

If you can be bothered replace your steering column especially if you think there is play in it etc. That can give a feel of vague ot non-resposive steering. Just done mine but still get clunks. On to ARB bushes now as the culprit. Steerings nice and firm now though.

It would be a garage job for me so looking at a lot of cash for steering colomn I guess.. has anyone ever used the Unipart control arms seem a really good price? £53 each!

May I suggest that you should suspect the strut top mounting and bearing, it doesn't give many clues when all jacked up.
Good luck
