the rear suspension arm bush is at the front,i made the same mistake thinking rear meant at the back but its just the rear bush of two at the front,and i have had them go on three cars now and make the clunking noise,also dont be tempted by the cheap ones they only last a couple of thousand miles,cheers

Yeah thats the ones that come with the arms! Think this is what il try replacing.. garage says they are fine but sometimes they still are worn

If you can be bothered replace your steering column especially if you think there is play in it etc. That can give a feel of vague ot non-resposive steering. Just done mine but still get clunks. On to ARB bushes now as the culprit. Steerings nice and firm now though.

It would be a garage job for me so looking at a lot of cash for steering colomn I guess.. has anyone ever used the Unipart control arms seem a really good price? £53 each!

May I suggest that you should suspect the strut top mounting and bearing, it doesn't give many clues when all jacked up.
