Battery/Radio Question
Hello all,
My battery hasn't enjoyed the lack of use during lockdown, and now most likely needs replacing as it isn't holding a charge. It occurred to me that when I get round to switching to a new one my radio might reset itself and ask for a code (which I'm not sure I have). My unit I have is as per the below and fitted to a facelift 2004 diesel: IMG_20200503_131719 by Ru W, on Flickr So the questions are: Will it ask me for a code if I disconnect the battery? If so, is there a way to disable the feature? Also, I'll probably be replacing the radio with something with a bit more modern connectivity. Is the radio a straightforward single DIN swap? I also have steering wheel controls for the radio, so will these automatically work with an aftermarket radio? Thanks! |

hi to all
on my 75 the radio remembered the code so you should be ok but if you are concerned that the code will need to be re entered then what you could do is attach a jump start pack to the battery before you disconnect the battery terminals help from a friend would be helpful while you disconnect the terminals your friend can then hold the terminal and jump start connector when you have removed both terminals you can remove the battery and replace with new by having the jump start connected you keep voltage going through and this should solve your problem I recently changed my battery and the cheapest was carparts4less and fast delivery hope this helps if you have a battery charger that should do the job david |
