still the coloured one is just ahead.
I sort of agree but then it doesn't give space for the eyes to look into which is why I cropped as I did........my preference in composition though

One more of the set....

Just goes to prove there is no right, just preferences. I quite often end up with 2 or more versions of the same pic. It's like asking someone the best colour to paint a room. All good fun though.

It's like any art I guess......but getting others thoughts (you guys) helps a lot

I use flash (fill in) in all my portrait photos but looking at the photos I think your right that the eyes could do with a little bit more 'pop' so I'll play when I get home from work.
My old chugger of a PC here at work ain't up to running Lightroom/Photoshop........besides, I'd never get any actual work done if it did

My first thoughts were I'd like to see more. So maybe further back or wider lens. Unusual for me as I usually like to get closer. Maybe horrible stuff to the side

It was totally non exciting .
I got in close as I liked the weather beaten look and thought B&W would highlight that patina

I'll pull a colour photo of it up in a minute when I can find one

I see what you mean

I think it is all that dull vegetation. Maybe could look good taken at low angle against the sky.
