Default ZT 190 Catalytic Converter

Hi Folks
Has anyone got a good used / new genuine original Cat for a ZT 190 that they would be willing to sell? I've had 3 replacement aftermarket cats fitted in just over a year and the longest one of these lasted was 3 months, Help!

Barry; have you had an emissions check done to verify this?

Hi Yes its just failed its latest MOT on emissions. Had two from Europarts and one from another aftermarket supplier. None of them last more than a few weeks. Am I just unlucky or is it the quality of aftermarket stuff is extremely poor?
getting ready to scrap the thing and stick with my 1.4 ZR

Have you considered the possibility that there's a fault with your car which is contaminating them? What did the MOT emissions test reveal? What was the lambda value?

Also, when you fitted the lambda (oxygen) sensors to the new catalytic converter, did you lubricate the thread?

Simon

P.S. I have the opposite problem with Mrs. SD1too's non-Rover car. The emissions are fine with a new Klarius converter but the OEM code reader keeps saying it is "low efficiency".

Thanks Simon. The car is with a well known trusted MG Rover specialist so I'm guessing he's done all the relevant stuff you mention but will check tomorrow
