I looked into getting RAW formats to preview in XP before. I found this...
https://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...displaylang=en

I didn't bother using it because I have an Olympus. It maybe worth having a try and leting us know if it works

Funny you should mention that because I downloaded this the other day. Unfortunately it doesn't seem to like my RAW files and doesn't display them in the viewer. Doh!

Apparently each RAW file differs with the manufacturers. I wonder if it also differs with the version?
Photoshop seem to have sorted the range of RAW's out very well. If only Windows could do the same

I can't vouch for this, but Canon users try this

Nikon users

Pete - surely it's not the hardware (i.e. the card reader) but the image viewing software that can't see your RAW files.

By the way, this is a good general purpose image viewer with some basic tweaking functions (crop, re-size, greyscale, etc, etc). The thumbnail viewer is very useful but the programme can't read RAW files:

The software is written by an Austrian chap called Irfan Skiljan and it's free for home use and for libraries, universities, schools, etc. Irfan is a pretty helpful sort and will answer emails if you have any tech-type questions.
