All are recognized brands. I doubt they would be around if they were markedly inferior.
Just my thinking.

Yes of course, but there seems to be a difference in appearance and sometimes quality.

One obvious difference is the timing belt tooth profile, it seems the belt tooth geometry is often a patented feature of a specific timing belt manufacturer. Takes Gates for example, they offer the HTD and the PowerGrip GT2 & GT3 belts. These belts have the deep curvilinear toothed design without the groove, is this tooth profile design better?

The dozen belts I have sitting on my bench are the Gates, INA, Quinton Hazel and Dayco brands, they are all curvilinear toothed belts with Dayco and QH having the little groove/dimple. The Rover belts also have the little groove on the teeth, so is this a copyright issue for some brands or a design difference for performance, or done simply for appearance?

The differences got me thinking...

Clever marketing? BS? For real?

Who knows.

BS baffles brains, often.

I keep a close eye on forums for feedback on belts - with Dayco, Gates and INA selling so many kits it'd be very quick to surface if there were issues.

All are very good - and a plastic impeller isn't a problem if fitted to the shaft correctly. Plastic impellers do have a bad rep, because often they're not secured as well as a metal item (of course, the method of attachment has to be different).
A properly attached plastic impeller on a pump isn't a bad thing.

The issue with the K Series cambelt kits in my eyes is the plastic roller / tensioner - which is why we sell a metal version and include it with the Dayco belts we sell.
Not meaning to turn this into a sales pitch - just my 2p. I have no bias, as I can source all 3 items for a similar price.
