Tesco's toilet cleaner clears the muck
Maybe not what you thought, but . . .
For some months I have trying a shelf-full of household cleaners + 000 wire wool and Terpanol a German de-greaser, to try and remove a haze on the windscreen that makes driving into a low sun more than hazardous. None is terribly effective so in some desperation I have tried Tesco toilet gel (limescale remover) as it was brilliant at removing lead flashing run-off from my conservatory roof (Activa glass). And yes it works best of all. Mind you passengers may detect a faint whiff of motorway service station urinal - but at least I can now see safer ahead. (Other toilet cleaners may be available)

Toilet lime scale cleaners typically contain hydrochloric acid. I think this explains its wide cleaning effect. Vinegar is also acidic (acetic acid), but a few hundred times weaker than hydrochloric.

First thing I tried, but our muck must be better than yours.

Plain water on a chamois and a scrim to take it off or kitchen towel works wonders on my 3.
