No special tools are required.

(Unless water pump pliers are special to you.)

A joint splitter makes it easier on the outside, but that is the case in any case.

[QUOTE=milosnikolic;738618]Hi all,

Just wanted to share with you that inner and outer tie rods for our cars are completely interchangeable with VW Sharan/Ford Galaxy.

Especially inner tie rods which are not available as OEM separate parts and are sold together with complete steering rack (should I point out the price difference )

Inner tie rods - Top is a new one for VW Sharan/Ford Galaxy, bottom is the original Rover/MG

Part number : Delphi TA1673

Outer tie rods Left + Right:

Had my tie rod repaired over here in NZ , they don't need to be replaced ,the engineering shop does quite a few repairs on these that are not adjustable, took them only an hour to do, they don't weld them, cost only 10 quid

I have problem with this so called inner tie rod on my Rover 75 CDT. I found here that for pertol version of 75 inner tie rod form Ford Galaxy/VW Sharan should fit.
What about diesel version of ours 75? At the RimmerBross site there are different part number for different engine.

Can somebody confirm, that this Delphi part TA 1673 fits to Rover 75 CDT too?

Thanks, Igor

Well it doesn't fit straight on to my CDT...

My mates tell me that the inner shaft on the new one is longer than the original, which means it wont butt right up to the stop,....and as it is, would in their opinion, be unsafe to fit.....

It would work if you were to grind/cut some off the length......but they wern't prepared to do this without further investigation, as their business could be liable if anything were to happen..

Are there different lengths for different years of Sharan....

I cant see how members can report that these are an exact fit...unless we have the wrong ones....

Are the Sharan and Galaxy ones identical...

They actually got two different makes in, in case one was "a chheap copy"...but both were the same...

Any help is most welcome...

Part number : Delphi TA1673

You do need a Galaxy Mk 1 model so part must be from galaxy before year 2000

Used these on my V6. They're a little bit shorter but not much. I've had no problems so far with them.

And I can't see any different part number listed for a diesel and the V6 on Rimmer Bros.

They dont list the Inner rod ends on Rimmers (afaik) as according to Rover, its not a seviceable part....

The new ones I'm trying to fit are longer than the originals, not shorter....

Its the one to fit the diesels I am interested in really, although I dont know if they differ much...

The Rimmer listing confirms that the power steering rack unit is common across the 75/ZT range. That can only mean there's a difference in the threaded stub lengths on the Galaxy/Sharan parts, or they vary with the year.
