Default Bork and Beck 2 part clutch

I ordered one of these the other day and it came in a generic brown box.
Would these normally be packaged in retail boxes rather than the current which said made in Tiawan.

Want to make sure I'm getting a genuine part.

I'd expect it to come in retail packaging

Any manufacturers name on the parts themselves?

Had a quick look and there is on the reverse of the clutch, interstingly its the only bit of sealing packing that has been broken, as it someone wanted to put stamp there.

I'd certainly expect Borg and Beck parts to be supplied in a branded package - when i purchased Brake Discs/Pads they were packaged in a blue box with the red/blue logo

who was the supplier ? - i'm guessing ebay.

It depends really, I've had them in plain boxes where the original cardboard sleeve over the box has been removed.

The maker will be stamped onto the pressure plate, and printed onto the friction material.

What slave are you intending to use?

Something cheap and cheerful HERE

Brian

In a genuine B&B kit, the pressure/cover plate should have Borg and Beck stamped on it somewhere, and the centre plate actually has LUK stamped on it. It should also come with a small sachet of spline grease to put on the input shaft splines/release bearing face.

There were some fake/Chinese copy B&B kits circulating a couple of years back.

Are you fitting this yourself ? Give us a shout if you need any help - I am just down the road.

Was going to use this one Brian, as I see you recommend LUK slaves. Seems to be a good price.

I'm hoping to get it through to Lates and Pete in Rugby. Although it needs an MOT before then. Thanks for the offer.

You don't know anyone in the area that has a trailer for transport.

There are one or two folks around here with recovery trucks that do classic car transportation (try Robin Hunter at Wisbech www.car-transport-services.co.uk) alternatively FS trailers down in St. Ives /Huntingdon hire out trailers.

There is also a place in Wisbech that hires trailers at a competitive price thou the name escapes me.
