I did mine from 3 feet back, no issues at all. If your fins blew out in bits, then it is unlikely to have been doing its intended job anyway and so needed replacement.

No.No.No. adao not use petrol. Big Russsuggested Gunk. That is what i would use.avaery efficient at removing even grease.
