I cant understand why members on here are trying to save a few pounds by searching ebay for the cheapest clutch possible, yes it may last, but usually you only get what you pay for....
AS TC says (in around the fifth post), go to www.buypartsby.co.uk where you will get an LUK clutch that is OEM.....I paid £600 for a full clutch, 2 cylinders and a DMF from them, and they were cheaper than anyone for OEM quality This is a big job, which you dont want to have to do again....buying quality goods could minimse this risk..... Using the Freelander slave also gives a quality product, and saves you around £70 as well.... Buypartsby do all of this in LUK............. All of their other Rover 75 parts are also at very competitive prices, in fact the cheapest I found for a Bosch 3 year guarantee battery (£46+vat) and a pair of rear springs (£44+vat) for my CDT.....the springs being OEM quality.

Its human nature to buy as cheap as you can! If someone told me that they could fit me a clutch for £200 all in but would last 2yrs i'd snap at it, god only knows what i'll be driving then (i'd hope the tourer still). Times are hard and for my purposes I bought it to be a cheap car, not a money pit! I took French Mikes advice and bought a mid price range clutch that he has had 2yrs out of and a OEM slave. Got a competent grease monkey to throw a spanner at it so I think i'm getting a good repair job at a good price but only time will tell

One ebay seller I noticed had in his small print, something on the lines of... "If we dont have the Make you have ordered we will send you a simliar product from manufacturers either A, B, C, D or E"......which in my opinion, gives them the licence to send you almost anything, which could be far from the quality you are expecting...

I know bassman your comment was not an ill conceived one. I would always like to go for the best I can afford, cheap cost to me usually (but not always) leads to poor quality hence the well kept secret of our cars is the exception to the rule. My plan is to keep this lovely car roadworthy and in tip top condition so long as its viable but as most people these days the pocket rules and mine are not as deep as i'd like!!!
