Default Rear coil spring compatibility

Hi Guys
I have a 75 connoisseur (03) 2.5 v6 auto saloon for which I have just purchased a rear coil spring from EBay. Unfortunately I think I have bought the wrong one. The company says that it will fit my car but I would like to be sure before I remove the broken one.
Can anyone tell me if the rear spring for the Rover 75 2.0 L - 16v Td 99-05 will be ok for mine?

Many Thanks

Not certain if the 2.0 and 2.5 same but maybe a good idea to fit a pair?
You may find back uneven if one fitted and the other old one will probably go soon after? Dave

Have a look at T-Cut's list here
http://www.the75andztclub.co.uk/foru...prings+dampers
I assume you are referring to the 2.0 diesel and not the 2.0 v6 ?
The diesel does have the same range of colour codes listed as the two v6 models , but it is all about the colour code on your existing springs compared with the new one , especially as you are only fitting one
If you cant see the colour splashes on your old spring
the codes are listed on a label under the rear seat. If your new spring is other make it probably won't have any colour code !

I agree with Dave here...I recently changed both of mine on my CDT, when i took the unbroken one off, it looked much newer than the broken one, indicating that the one you leave may go soon...

I used KYB springs from www.Buypartsby.co.uk which are OEM and only cost be £44 +vat+delivery the pair.

Have you looked on Rimmers to see what is compatible...heres the page

http://www.rimmerbros.co.uk/Item--i-GRID001551

Re colour codes, I knew what colours mine were, but none of the aftermarket stockists I contacted had springs that were colour coded(or couldnt use the colour as a reference)...I think you can only compare colours if you buy genuine MG/Rover parts from say Rimmers, as no one else uses the coding...

Thanks guys, it's always reassuring to get get such knowledgable responses. I decided to get the broken one off and check against the one I bought from EBay. It measured up well and when fitted sat really evenly.

The springs are the same size for all models. The different codes indicate the temper of the steel, which affects the compression rate. Soft or hard or somewhere between.

Non-OEM springs will fit fine, but they may vary in their temper from that originally specified. This may affect the general handling, the feel and set of the car.
