Didn't know until I saw this thread. Farewell to a great entertainer and I suspect that one wag might well be right in saying:
"The funeral will be held on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and most of Saturday." A remark that would have tickled Doddy himself I think, lol. |

He never spoke to his mother in law for 18 months as he didn't like to interrupt her

His timing was brilliant, he was never lost for words, and he could sing too! I have taped tonight's Channel 5 programme, and shall probably keep it for posterity. Dare i say that I preferred him to Sir Bruce?

I made a "doddy" joke. Implying now`t, simply said that I saw him at a table next to me and my girlfriend early one morning, probably on his way home after a show in Leeds. You got that now? Jesus H, some people. Ken |

Saw Ken Dodd perform at the Cliffs Pavilion, Westcliffe on Sea,many years ago.
From the moment he walked on stage to the point when he finished - many hours later - the whole audience never stopped laughing. Best live show I ever had the privilege of attending. And all done without any swear words .......... |

Witty..
Why is it that modern comedians have an almost obsessive need to include vulgarity in their humour. Good material doesn't need swear words to make it funny, topical, or relevant. Do they think it makes them more witty?
Or do they perhaps believe it makes them appear more in tune with the younger generation? Whatever the reason, I for one can do without it and the clean comics can still have me shrieking and shrieking with manical laughter until I fear my sides may split and tears spring from my eyes. |
