That's the way I was thinking but am unsure how stable seat would be in event of an accident, I ponder on whether the billet would also need fixing independently to the car floor pan.

This is the big question! In an unfortunate accident it would be just what insurance companies need to get out of paying up, unless, of course, they've approved it and approval may need an engineer's report . When I put Newton Commercial front seats in my Minor my insurance company wasn't bothered and just said ok, no "we'll make a note of that" or anything. Took longer to get through on the phone than it did to explain it to them, lol.

Can anyone please advise how I can send this message to Brian
Message to Brian (Marinabrian).
Suzublu has suggested you carried out the fitting of a LHD drivers seat into a RHD Rover 75 for your Dad.
He suggested I could ask you if all worked well and how it was done ie did it mean a direct replacement - both mechanically and electrically so the replacement seat could be adjusted to be higher?
Any advice will be very welcome.
Thanks
John

I have just found the solution to this Problem..I have located a drivers front seat LHD So all I will do is swap the seat coverings over and bolt the new seat in to the original position. I will then have a Manually adjustable passenger seat. Sorted
