Interestingly enough, I deliberately dropped off the radar in as much as I wasn't on the electoral roll by virtue of deregistering my address a year or so ago. So several months later, just before the deadline to register to vote in the general election of last week, I bought myself a PAYG sim, didn't do anything other than put £10 of credit on it using cash. I then used this as the contact number when registering myself on the "closed" register.........so how amazing when I received a marketing cold call on this number which has absolutely no connection to me other than one transaction, quoting my full name. I would be more than happy to live my life off grid forever, if it meant not swelling the coffers of the people who sell your data.... |

there seems to be over £200,000,000 ( yes thats £200 million) in outstanding Dartford Crossing fees that foreign registered drivers have yet to pay - this seems to suggest that the UK follow up procedure is a "little lacking" in effectiveness !

That would pay for a few trained officers and a computer to chase them up!

I suspect a lot of that will be Trucks, a lot of foreign truck drivers who are working on a cost per load basis will have no intention of paying it. They arrive in the UK with there fuel tanks brimmed with cheap diesel and wont spend a penny here they don't ''need'' too.
