Lovely day today, does this mean the summer is on its way at last.

Time to get the girls out for a play, I managed to source 5x13" refurbished Ford sports steel wheels for the old girl, you know the ones...
They were also fitted to the Escort and Cortina back in the day, 5J with skinny 165/80 bicycle tyres Lol

She would have had these fitted as standard back in 1979, so she is finally getting back to original, undoing all the boyracer add-ons.

Christmas without the Capri.

She's in for restoration, wings, rear arches, doors, floor, sills, engine bay, and a complete respray, quite a bit of fabrication to do.

We were hoping to have her back before Christmas, but its looking more like February/March.

I sure do miss the old girl.

My mother married a guy who had a (signal?) red mk3 1.3L. Not even.a headrest, brown check.seats, stereo had to be fitted as it was an unlocked option, no rear wiper but did have a heated window. Totally solid, ziebarted from.new.

I always wanted a Capri.......... until I drove one! The car salesman couldn't believe it when I said "Sorry mate. I'll stick with my Granada thanks"! Enjoy the nostalgia.

The rear suspension was tensioned spring but the fronts were McPherson. The gearbox was a silky beaut and steering had good feel and response (at least the Friday/Monday throw together I had). Handling was par for 1970!

A hissing brake servo is usually a leaking rear seal. With no servo assistance and a return spring trying to do its thing it will be applying the brakes.

If you remove the vacuum pipe it should allow the car to move.

I use Classiccar Automotive to remanufacture brake parts, great service and the parts come back looking like new.

A hissing servo is an MOT faliure.

If you investigate I think that with a servo not working it won't apply the brakes by itself.--In fact you will find the brake pedal to be quite inefficient and the car much harder to stop.

Default Capri brakes

Did you feel brake judder at all? They are very prone for brake shoe levers seizing, had the same myself on every Capri I've owned, you need to pin point where hissing is coming from as there should be 2 rubber hoses, 1 from servo to pipe that goes around bulkhead then from that pipe to manifold, also rubber gromit on servo where white or black plastic fitting is

As for the hiss. Check its location with a piece rubber flexible hose. Don't put the listening end of the hose too close to your ear just in case it tries to remove your brain.--
Thanks Jon, I will do that very carefully as I don't want anything else sucking something it shouldn't.

No brake judder Alan, but the more braking I do while driving the worst the rear wheels lock, it feels like the brakes are not releasing.
