How did I find the Club?
The main question for me is 'Why did I buy a Rover 75'?
For the last eight years, I have been driving a VW Golf 1.9 TDi. I bought it with 100,000 miles on the clock and have put a further 130,000 miles on it. It was time to replace it as our family car, not because anything was amiss with the engine, but the electrics were beginning to fail: windows, central locking, wind screen wipers. It was time for a new car. I set my heart on a Skoda Octavia 1.9 TDi Estate; same car, essentially, but a little more boot space. However, my head was turned by seeing a Rover 75 Tourer in the yard of the car sourcing who was looking out for a Skoda Octavia for me. The Rover 75 fitted the bill: a diesel car with a good engine pedigree, and reasonably roomy. This is the point at which I found the 75 and ZT Owners Club and it was a great source of information to help me decide what exactly I was looking for. I whittled it down to a CDTi, for performance and for lower emissions tax; a Connoisseur SE, as this alone has the 'cat flap' in the rear seat through which to pass skis: I did not want to ruin the lines of the Tourer with a cumbersome top box. The careful descriptions of the different specs and the photographs of the many colours of Rover 75s were a great help. So, after looking for a number of weeks on Autotrader and eBay, I located a late-53, Rover 75 Tourer CDTi Connoisseur SE, Midnight Blue, with only 86,000 miles on the clock in Lincoln, drove up from Wiltshire one evening and drove back the following day with this splendid car. How much did I pay? £3,500 plus my 1998 VW Golf. I think I have done well and hope to keep the Rover 75 going for at least the eight years I ran my VW Golf. I am hoping the Owners Club will help me to do so. |

Just bought a 2003 ZT in Le Mans green this morning thought I'd better join an owners forum, as I know how useful they can be. I'd been looking at them for a while I liked the look of them as they are a little different. Couldn't decide between petrol and diesel, as they were surprisingly closely priced in the end end I went for a 190 +. After a quick spin behind the wheel I decided that I'd stuff the mpg and go with the V6. Pick up next week
