Thumbs down K & N Filter

Is it worth changing the standard air filter for a K & N on a CDT?

Talking

Yes, along with a Ronbox. Don't need to replace, clean and oil on occasions.

I would disagree. They do flow more than a standard filter and initially you will notice a difference. The stumbling block is that they are highly over-oiled and will kill your MAF sensor much quicker than other performance filters.

I'd go for a BMC filter from Ron or a Green Cotton filter. Both flow more air than the K&N and both are lightly oiled to prevent your MAF expiring.

Thought the Ronbox made the Maf redundant

Great stuff, you'll be pleased with the BMC.

No. The cars ECU needs a MAF signal to accurately control fuelling regardless of whether a box is fitted. Without it the ECU has to guess how much air it has to play with. You can unplug it but this is not optimal and should only be done for verification of whether the MAF sensor is healthy or not.
