The last kingdom
Has anyone else been watching this? Based on the books by Bernard Cornwall (how on earth has he managed to write so many?!). It follows a Saxon, called Uthtred (pronounced oo-tread) who becomes a slave to Danes, then fights alongside Alfred the great of Wessex. The BBC made the first series a few years ago, then BBC and Netflix co produced the second series, and Netflix have produced the third, and it was released on 19th November. We’ve signed up to Netflix purely for this and myself and my wife have just finished watching the whole lot, 5 episodes a few days ago, and just watched the last 5 now. I won’t say what happens in case people have watched the first 2 and not realised a third was available on Netflix, don’t want to spoil it. All I will say, is keep an eye out, Bernard Cornwell pops up to play 1 of the characters.
And keep an eye out if you do like this, I’ve read Netflix have confirmed there will be a 4th series... |

Brilliant series.
It keeps to the books reasonably well too. If you haven't read the books then I would certainly recommend them. Glad to hear they are doing a series 4 can't wait!! |

My wife reads a lot and has all the Sharpe books, and about half the last kingdom series. She's often suggested to me that I read them, bought me one of his books called 'The Winter King', or something like that but I couldn't get into it. Only books I've read in the last 10 years have been bedtime stories for the kids, and the Hereward trilogy written by James Wilde, which if you like the Last Kingdom books, I'd highly recommend the Hereward books.
Have you seen the 3rd series on netflix? |
