Apparently "it must be combined with one of the leading steering wheel interface kits such as several from PAC, or the Metra ASWC or the iDataLink Maestro SW", so may not be as complex as they make it look. Mind you, I just saw the price!!!!!

I'm still getting to grips with my installation as it is. Sorted my GPS issue by getting hold of an external GPS receiver. Solar powered too, so the battery last and lasts and lasts. Didn't break the bank either

Excellent. Do you have Android configured to use it or "just" the sat nav software?

I have been using "BlueGPS4Droid" from this thread on XDA Developers

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=833094

It uses bluetooth app to bypass internal GPS but the tablet just gets the data it needs from the external receiver. It works for anything on the phone that uses GPS once its installed and running.

Excellent - good old XDA, I wouldn't know 10% of what I do without that place.

And I think I've finally turned the corner with my PB's GPS. I was busy manipulating a CSV file with every GB postcode on it yesterday and now have a functional sat nav. Next step, figure out if I can be ***** to build a fascia.

I found a tutorial video on YouTube for the E46 and I'm sure the stereos from that model fit our cars (I may be wrong, if so ignore post )

Part 1: http://youtu.be/YN2jq3ObT5w
Part 2: http://youtu.be/Ew-4plVVx_o
Part 3: http://youtu.be/roti63y1yDE

It is for an iPad mini and I found the kit on eBay here:
