Morning all, Grey skies & mild here, Had an email yesterday from the seed potato merchants in Bolton to say your orders ready to be collected They're not usually ready until the end of February. I might nip out with mask on to collect them.

Morning Ian, it will be good for you to get out of the house and see something different, even if it’s to collect the potato seeds. This morning one of the Jersey cows dropped dead…….. heart/old age. Rest in peace.

Morning Phil, Yes it felt good to go out again, even the sun made an appearance. I usually take the bus to collect my spuds from there as it's easier & quicker trying to find somewhere to park but I thought I wont tempt fate sitting on a crowded bus so took the car.

Did you get Stu’s phone number? I saw you were asking after it. During the height of the pandemic, I was asked to go back to work in the NHS to retrain and work in the front line, but I wasn’t up to it. I don’t miss working in the NHS or doing the air ambulance MediVacs. Fortunately I am rarely bored and these days photography keeps me out of trouble. As you know, it’s been 3 months since my big operation and I still have to be careful with what I can and can’t do. Recently my appetite returned and it’s a great feeling being able to eat again. My weight had dropped from 103KG to 73KG but since stuffing myself with chocolates, crisps etc it’s going back on. I have another operation planned to repair an aneurysm in the right knee sometime in May or June. Hopefully that will be the last op. To look at me now, I am a picture of rude health, I look great! My relatives here wanted me to go bungee jumping with them off a bridge over a ravine as they are daring and sporty, but I gave them a “no thanks”…… they hate boredom and are always looking for a buzz….. Boredom? I know the retirees on the forum have their own plans for not getting bored. Some play bowls, go fishing but I do know someone who likes to play with his cabin cruiser in his spare time. We are lucky to have some great cooks and gardeners on the forum. Are you a gardener? What other interests do you have to keep you going? I am just getting up, open up the house, have breakfast and get on with the day |

After I lost my last dog, I was convinced that I could hear the rattle of her ID tag on the collar link for weeks. I still think of her and smile as she helped me through some tough times. She was a rescue dog and we both had "issues" at the time. Time is a great healer.
