Swapped electric drivers seat to memory one.
Hi everyone, I've just bought a drivers seat to replace my worn one for £30, the only difference is that the new one has the memory function fitted where as the old one was electric/heated only, the chap was very helpful (small breakers yard) and helped me swap them over, after he'd been underneath the seat to connect the wiring he said the plugs are different from a series 1 to a 2 and that I might have to sort some of the connectors out???? Anyway, Torx bolts in and everything worked, full electric adjustment and heating so what other things to sort? I'm not bothered about the memory function working so is that all I've got to worry about or is there an airbag issue? Thanks for any help.

The airbag plugs are different between the early and late cars, also you would need a T4 session to recode the memory function to your car if you want it to work from your key.

So am I right in thinking the airbag light is on as they're not connected under the seat at the moment? I'm no good with electrics and thought it just needed resetting, I have a friend who has the obd box of tricks thingy, can the correct plugs be soldered /fitted to the seats wires to enable connection ie... Got from a breakers and have they got the same amount of wires going into them? Thanks.

If your airbag light is on now (And wasn't on before the seat swap) Then yes, the airbag wires will need connecting, you must get them the correct way around or the light will stay on.

It doesn't matter which colour goes to which. Whilst you are at it chop all the connectors off and fit proper waterproof plugs. I've done this to every new Z car even if the light isn't on.
Used these to replace the standard plugs. https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?m...2F392312693224 You will need 4 (2 for each seat) |
