Unhappy Driver's window

Hello, I went to put my window down and there was a loud clunk and then just a whirring noise. The window opened a sliver so some air is getting in but no more. My mechanic is being given the run around by local garages (mid Cornwall area) so I have said that I will ask fellow members if they know where we can get the part from that is a) hopefully not too expensive and b) does the job. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Try Rimmer Brothers for parts or a scarp yard but what parts do you need?

Hi Sue,

As suzublu says, send a P.M. to member trikey (Andy) who is in Devon and often supplies parts and advice to other members in need.

Has your mechanic removed the door card to discover which part is required?

Simon

This is the whole unit and at a price that IS expensive.
My drivers window did the same as yours, it was the cable that had rusted and snapped. There are window regulator kits available on EBay for about £10. Takes a couple of hours but they do work. Mine has been fine since. If Andy (Trikey) has one, it's a simpler job, but get your mechanic to smother grease on the cables, runners and cable ends in the white clips, as they are exposed to water/moisture inside the door.

Link for regulator kit incase you or anyone else need it.
Lee.
