I'll see if I can get the Galaxy part tomorrow......and compare it with the original, and the Sharan parts I have...

That's what I meant. I Don't think I explained it very well.

As they are slightly different lengths you can't go by marking how far to screw the outer on, you need to measure from the inside of the inner out (if that makes sense). And it goes without saying to get them adjusted by a garage afterwards. Mine were way out despite my best efforts.

We tried different makes of INNER rod end, using the Delphi part number/Sharan/Galaxy reference, but all were the same.

To butt the new part up to the stop on the steering rack, 2 to 3mm had to be sawn off the new part...

I wonder if people are fitting these, and not butting them up to the stop, all the ones we've seen are 3mm too long on the shorter thread.

Fitted them today and everything feels ok, and the knocking has gone.

Addendum....All the above posts from me are concerning the INNER rod ends only.....these are not available as a Rover part....The outer ends ARE available as a Rover part........

Went to get the tracking done on my ZTT, and the inner tie rod was so rusty the locking nut has virtually welded itself into place, and the thread between the locking nut and the steering rack is non existent.

So after a bit of hunting around I found that DMGRS has them at a decent price, but the £15 postage costs to France rather put me off. I then stumbled across Tazo Parts, who will supply and deliver one for £20

They also appear to have many other "Genuine" (presumably Chinese) parts for the 75 and ZT. Hopefully they have UK stock and the tie rod won't take a month of Sundays to reach me.

Thanks Brian - I'd noted that Galaxy/Sharan items were similar, but I was wary of the reported longer length of the inboard thread.

The Tazo part works out 84p cheaper including postage to France I think I spent too long living in Scotland

Hi Brian,

Are these Sharan ones ok for a 2002 diesel tourer? My drivers side is totally seized up and needs replacing so I have decided to get both done, I may have to take the ones from DM? on ebay if they are the only ones that are the correct length.

Thank you
